Summer Jammz: Josh Garrels, You Me & Apollo, Jay J Matott

Summer time: yard work, high end yard games, drinking coffee on quiet mornings in your backyard.

All these things are greatly encouraged. Especially when the coffee is bought from Everyday Joe’s with a special, one-of-a-kind mug. Whoopsy. Just almost let a little secret slip. More later.

Music also goes well with grass and trees. Lucky for you, several friends of Everyday Joe’s have new or new-ish music for your ears. Stream ‘em all right here and enjoy your ladder golf.

JOSH GARRELS: LOVE & WAR  & THE SEA IN BETWEEN

This gem is hot off the digital presses. Mr. Garrels is offering it as a free download for a year (!) at his Bandcamp page.

Good for: early mornings in the yard, late evenings burning the citronella tiki torches.

YOU ME & APOLLO: CARDS WITH CHEATS

It’s a solid one. So solid you won’t be able to stop listening or strutting.

Good for: Downing tasty bevs under the midday sun, playing washers with the neighbors.

JAY J MATOTT & THE ARCTIC: TO THE BIG RIVER

This album is the surprise of the year. It is to these ears what You Me & Apollo was two years ago and what Nightbeds was one year ago.

Good for: contemplative grilling, cleaning up…post the rager you threw while listening to You Me & Apollo, driving to iHop in the rain, wandering the vacant streets of an early morning Oldtown Ft. Collins.

Audio Treat: The Sunshine House

Our good friends of The Sunshine House are quite the musical ensemble. They are releasing their EP this coming Saturday at Everyday Joe’s, and that has most people excited.

If you enjoyed when The Riflemen were around town, then methinks you’ll enjoy The Sunshine House…as 3 of its 6 members were Riflemen. Plus, they use electronic trickery on their electric guitars. Plus they’re nice folks.

So nice, in fact, that you can listen to the middle 2/3 of their self-titled debut below. What will the other two tracks sound like? What is electronic trickery? Can a horn section and a string section and a six member band all play at Everyday Joe’s at the same time? To find out, you’ll need to come to the show. 7 pm. Buy tickets here. You Me & Apollo and Seth Braverman will warm you up with their musics.

Enjoy the tunes.

The Sunshine House EP (2/3 of it, anyway)

Love, Everyday Joe’s | Vol. 4: We Have A Strong City

Oh my oh my are we glad to give this to you.

It almost didn’t happen, you know. We weren’t sure if a Volume 4 should exist. Then, our minds/hearts were changed. We’re beyond pleased to give you Love, Everyday Joe’s | Vol. 4: We Have A Strong City.

In the past, this has been used as a fundraiser to help pay our music licensing fees. This year, donations will be directed back to the musicians who donated songs…all 14 of them. They are: Candy Claws, Aaron Espe, Jessica Sonner, Ask You In Gray, Aaron Strumpel, The Sunshine House, Lifeboat Etiquette, Luke Flowers, The Blackthorn Project, Danielle Ate The Sandwich, Paper Bird, Dan Craig, You Me & Apollo, and Baily Stauffer & The Katy Janes.

It’s a large handful of the musicians who have helped shape this place. Please support them, read a little bit more about this year’s compilation, and download the tunes. You can do all that by clicking on the cover art below. Have a good listen!
