The Exciting List

There has been giant influx of exciting newsies (not the Disney movie, but the tidbits) lately. Enough that methinks a list is in order. Perhaps The Exciting List will be a recurring dealy here on Appendix E-J, and perhaps it won’t. If it is, the first of many follows. If it isn’t, enjoy the one-off.

THE EXCITING LIST!

  • You Me and Apollo (Brent Cowles) has relocated to Fort Collins. This is something good, as he will hopefully be available to play here and the world will learn of his prowess in the musical realms. Start learning with your ears here.
  • The Blackthorn Project is releasing a new album. They have committed to not going into debt making the record (respectable) and are taking pre-orders now to help offset post-production costs. Give your bit and begin to hotly anticipate the delivery of the album.
  • We have two “Heart In A Cup” t-shirts left. Then they are gone forever. Both are size small. If you are somewhere where you would need then shipped, I will make it happen.
  • Have you heard of [slash] seen these babies? They are movin’. Don’t delay.
  • The World Barista Championships are June 23 – 25. They are in England. If you want to front the cost to travel there and be our sideline reporter, go for it. Otherwise, we’ll be streaming the most of it at Everyday Joe’s.

Killer list, yeah? If you have stuff you’d like us to add, let me know in the comments.

New Music From You Me And Apollo

One of our favorite musical discoveries from 2009 was Mr. Brent Cowles aka You Me And Apollo. His How To Swim, How To Rot EP is pure gold. Listen and you will understand. His performance at Everyday Joe’s on a warm summer night is a warm memory. Thinking of taking him out for trail burgers the next day makes me hungry.

We haven’t heard much from You Me And Apollo since that brief summer tour. The other day on Twitter, Mr. Cowles announced he would be playing at the Apple store in Colorado Springs on March 19 (this coming Friday). Intrigued clicking took us to his Myspace site, where we found rough edits of 4 new songs. Those songs are now streaming below for your listening pleasure. Just press the play.

You Me & Apollo also donated a song to our Love, Everyday Joe’s | Vol. 3 compilation, which you can download here.

Audio Treat (full album): You, Me, And Apollo

For myself, there isn’t much better than when you put an album on for the first time and the sounds coming through the speakers move you. It is almost an unexpected and much welcome joy that can bring you to tears. It also seems to be rare. It hadn’t happened for me since I first listened to For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver. Then last Sunday rolled around.

Brent Cowles is the man behind the moniker You, Me, and Apollo. He is the son of a person very close to the Everyday Joe’s family. When he needed a last -second show to fill a date on tour, I was willing to help but needed to hear the music first. I was forwarded a copy of his 5-song How To Swim, How To Rot EP. Figuratively, I haven’t stopped listening to it since. Literally, it is on twice-a-day rotation in my car, headphones, and home. I have forwarded it to most people I know…not with internet piracy malice but with the urgent note of “you…have…to…hear…this.”

I would now like to forward that urgent note to you. The entire EP is ready for you to stream below. It clocks in at just under 23 mintues, so grab a snack and have a seat.

You, Me, & Apollo will be performing at Everyday Joe’s Thursday, July 9 with Courtney Marie Andrews. The show starts at 7 pm and there is a $5 suggested donation.

See you then & enjoy.
