We’ve been working for the past year or so on a way to brew coffee other places. A way to take our method of service outside of 144 S. Mason. Well, it’s happening.

The good people of Grant Family Farms have invited us to be the coffee & tea vendor at their 3rd Annual Harvestival this weekend. We accepted with gratefulness and began to plan. Here’s what will go down:

  • We’ll be offering one bean brewed your choice of 3 ways: French Press, Hario V60, or Clever Coffee Dripper. The bean is Santa Monica from Concordia Colombia. It’s mighty fine. Read all the tasty deets at Novo’s site.
  • We’ll be offering a nice array of hot, loose leaf teas from The Tea Table. Black, Green, Herbal, Rooibos…we’ll have you covered.
  • We’ll also have those snazzy new diner mugs and Clever Coffee Drippers for sale.
  • The booth will largely be staffed by your fav Everyday Joe’s volunteers, so come say hey.
  • There will be killer live music at the festy. We’re most looking forward to Mr. Isakov and Ms. Sandwich.

If you follow our friend Katie Herzig on Twitter (@katieherzig), then you may have read the rumblings of a “live” studio album she was recording with her most-of-the-time tour mates Claire & Jordan. I enjoy “live” studio albums. I also “like” using quotation marks. Guns N Roses recorded “Paradise City” in one take. At least I think it was “Paradise City.” Either way…rock and roll.

This Acoustic Trio album that Herzig has recorded may not rock or roll, but it is free until November 1. You can download the album below. Katie, Claire, & Jordan (plus the rest of Katie’s band) will return to Everyday Joe’s on October 12. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and are on sale now at Everyday Joe’s or by clicking here. Gregory Alan Isakov will be opening the show up, so be hip or square but just make sure you’re there.

You’d think this would come naturally, but it very often does not (names could be mentioned…but I don’t want to start any scuffles). Names that do fit the “voice is as good an instrument as any” category are Ryan O’Neal (Sleeping At Last), Matthew Perryman Jones, Nathaniel Rateliff (Born In The Flood), Karen Peris (The Innocence Mission), and Glen Hansard (The Frames). There are more, but I need to get to making my point.

Two whose voices are smooth like a nice glass of whiskey and warm my innards just the same are Aaron Espe and Gregory Alan Isakov. And looky here, they’re both playing at Everyday Joe’s on Saturday night:

I have been fairly giddy concerning this show for several months, as have you I am sure. To increase that excitement exponentially, our friends over at The Mountain Tempo have posted a new song by Mr. Isakov over on their fine, fine blog. To hear it, click on his lovely South African face below.

It will feature Rob Drabkin (Westword’s 2008 Songwriter of the Year), Gregory Alan Isakov (our friend Cameron’s favorite songwriter), Reed Foehl (Josh Dillard saw him open for Ray LaMontagne), and Kevin Mileski (is awesome). The pieces they compose will no doubt tickle your ear drums with delight.

The show starts at 7 pm and is $8 in advance or $10 the day of. Buy advance tickets here.

As a nice little preview, Mr. Rob Drabkin has graciously let us borrow a song for you all to hear. Please enjoy “Stay Here With You.” See you Friday.
