Did you know Everyday Joe’s has been on the Twitter for 2 years now? It’s a good place to get infos. Same with the Facebook. We pay an awful lot of attention to Twitter, and find interesting things on it, and report them to you, here.

Now, a progression of tweets – beginning yesterday afternoon and wrapping up in the wee hours of this morning – from our friend Tim Thornton:

Tim is a man who is always thinking. He has the mind of a person who starts things.

A value at the core of Everyday Joe’s is relationship and collaboration. Doing things together is how this place runs. It is how coffee gets made. It is how sound gets put through speakers at shows. People throwing their talents into a pool and seeing what grows.

The Recording Bazaar is like this, tho you pay folks money. But it is a pool of musical talent that is deep and wonderful. They will help you write songs…or come up with that string part you know would put your song on an iTunes commercial…or produce that album that will make you friends with Tom Hanks.

Or in their words:

“Why, hello there. I’m Tim. My wife and I play instruments that not everyone plays, and we play them in a unique way. People frequently ask us to play on their records when they’re looking for an indie sound and an interesting approach.

We will always love working together in recording studios with producers, engineers, and other artists, but we’ve figured out that we can do more work and bring more value to our clients if we work remotely. A good home studio and a fast internet connection go a long way.

One day we said to each other, “hey, we could do this for anyone. Let’s make a website.” Then we said “OK.”

After doing quite a few projects and creating several happy and repeat clients through our fist website, StringOverdubs.com, we started thinking about our workload. We started thinking about our many musician and engineer friends who would be a great fit for our clients.

While a lot of musicians are doing remote recording (or virtual recording, if you want to be more sci-fi), we felt a need for a strong connection point online.

We’ve carefully selected a group of people who not only capable musicians/engineers, but also remarkable people who are fun to work with in creative things.”

Or in sci-fi talk:

“It’s the year 2011. Robots are quietly honing their cultural war on planet earth.

The people haven’t yet realized the danger, even though as an online minority they have to type near-indecipherable letters into websites to verify their humanity every time they post a classifieds ad or reset their email password. The Mechanization is nearly complete.

Only one hope remains: the most human of all endeavors, the arts. But The Mechanization has been busy coding software to capture and approximate the sounds of violins, acoustic guitars, and yes, even voices.

One rag-tag, fugitive crew of human artists has cordoned of a robot-free zone in a corner of the world wide web: the rebels known as Recording Bazaar.

As a protest against the robot conquest of art, Recording Bazaar artists use the internet against The Mechanization to run an open market of collaboration with other humans in the creation of actual art. Joined by their zany robot-rebel friends (the ever-rebellious Electric Guitar and the brilliant but conflicted Logic Pro) they struggle against a digitized and passionless future.

Will you support the rebellion and hire a Recording Bazaar collaborator to keep your art human?”

We suggest supporting the rebellion. We doubt thou will regret it.

It’s nice to have things to look forward to.

Twitter does not stop while you sleep. Whilst spending some minutes this morning scrolling through the tweets that came across the wire during the night time, this one from Sleeping At Last (@sleepingatlast) caught my eye:

… a countdown begins!! visit http://bit.ly/9I4Oje

The click on the link takes one to this:

Of course, if you click the link you can watch the countdown actually counting down. This is just a screen capture. Snazzy.

Not sure what this project will be, but calling it a project makes it sound worth waiting a few days for. If this project is influenced at all by WNYC’s Radiolab in the way Storyboards was, then I’m into it. The people of Everyday Joe’s will probably be into it regardless.

While you wait, go listen to Radiolab. We recommend the episode about parasites.

This little tidbit popped up in the good ol’ Twitter stream a few days ago from @aaronstrumpel:

http://bestc.am/hbWEh Just wrote a three song ep to be titled “5.25.10″ due out next week.

Then this hotness (along with much more you can see here) appeared on Mr. Strumpel’s Facebook presence:

That’s a Wurlitzer. And that’s a trumpet. And that’s a guitar neck forest. And that’s a man we love so much.

Really, you probably know we love him so much. You probs also know we are eagerly anticipating the release of Birds later this summer. We know you are eagerly anticipating it.

Sounds like we’ll all have something to hold us over soon. Or hold our ears and hearts over, at least. The good people of Everyday Joe’s will be sure to let you know when there is more to be known. Chances are there already is more to be known. Chances are we already know it. Chances are you should be alert, young ones.

Oh, Saturday night was some magic sauce.

Whenever our friends in Sleeping At Last fill the space with their sounds, the room changes a bit. The bricks seem to move to the beat. The people in the chairs sit in complete attentiveness…as though something is moving inside of them besides the beauty of the music and if they move or talk they might miss something. Much swirling of many things occurs…and perhaps the beginnings or continuings of the healing of hearts.

Welcome to one of the greatest moments of your life.

TW Walsh is a man who mixes and masters albums. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what that means. He makes them sound wonderful. Would you like some examples of which albums he makes sound wonderful? Thought so. Examples of those who have played at Everyday Joe’s:

David Bazan Curse Your Branches

Shadows On A River Shadows On A River

You And Yourn It Would Make Things Worse

Karli Fairbanks The Breaking Of Our Days

There are a lot more where that came from. Check out a full explanation of his work here.

When he’s not mixing or mastering, TW Walsh is a prolific tweeter (follow him @twwalsh). Back in January, this eminated from his twitteressence:

Cat beard.

Followed by a link to this:

Ohhhhh that is lovely. Or perhaps you think it is disgusting. Or genius. I’d like to point out the stubble above the lowest cat’s head. Will more cat’s grow from there? Or is this a peaceful mauling?

Think about it. Get back to me. You have been trusted with something great, here. Be careful upon whom you unleash it.

FURTHER:

We don’t get spiritual in this sliver of cyberspace too often, but these are good things to consider regardless of your beliefs concerning beliefs.

Speaking Of Faith is a fine show on public radio that has had input concerning the way certain things are done around Everyday Joe’s. The show and the people of the show don’t know this, of course. Methinks they have input many places. Host Krista Tippett spoke at First United Methodist back in the fall. Several of us went and it was wonderful. There is an amusing story that came out of the evening, but we’ll get to that some other time.

The staff of SOF maintain a Twitter account (@softweets). Today it produced this tweet:

40 Days 40 Deeds: a project “to be kinder, to give more, to inconvenience” + “make the world a more pleasant place.”

This sounded so lovely to my heart, I clicked on the provided link and was taken to a post son the SOF blog SOF Observed. From there, my clicking intrigue took me to another post on Observed and to an entirely different blog, 40days40deeds. It was a lot of work for my clicking finger, but it was worth it.

The “other post” on Observed is actually titled “A Is For Alleluia.” It marks the beginning of the Lenten season, and the Irish writer marked my heart with the statement:

Lent is less for giving up, and more for making space.

40days40deeds is a project of sorts, centered on Lent and the hearts of 4 folks across the U.S.

40 Days 40 Deeds is a project created by a small group of people in various U.S. cities who have pledged to make small changes throughout the 2010 Lenten season to encourage people to be kinder, to give more, to inconvenience themselves a little to make the world a more pleasant place to be.

Those are sentiments of sacrifice and service…things at the core of Everyday Joe’s. The volunteers of Everyday Joe’s…those are the things their hearts beat for. Please know that.

It has been said here lately that what Everyday Joe’s IS must not stay at Everyday Joe’s. By reading this, you take part in this place. If you come in, you take part in this place. By being a human being, you take part in this place, because this place is part of a much larger thing. We are all in it.

Everyday Joe’s wants to make space for things of love and goodness to occur. We want to make changes that provide space. The best part is, we can all do this each day all the time. Perhaps a new habit can be formed over fourty days…a habit that makes the places we are a part of more pleasant places to be. A habit that makes space for pleasantries to occur. Then we can be thankful.

Please take a moment to read those posts/blogs. Comment if you please, or come in and say hello.

Not trying to turn this into a Candy Claws fanblog, but you have to report the news that fits and give credit where credit is due. Plus, it’s always a nice time to see members of the EDJ family move up and up.

Our longtime pal-os in Candy Claws are turning up in quite a few places. In October they were the subject of Pitchfork’s Forkast. It now seems the once-hipster-now-career-holder listeners are ready for them, or so I would guess from a tweet by NPR’s All Songs Considered:

RT @nprobin: Today’s free download from our Second Stage: Candy Claws! http://tinyurl.com/yhx2hmf

Well, isn’t that tasty? So are the kind words from the writeup:

“After two years of writing and recording, the band self-released the stunning album early this year and were signed to the Irish label Indiecater in the fall…It’s impossible to pinpoint all of the sounds going on at one time, but digging in further yields even more surprising noises and little details that really make the music beautiful.”

You can read the rest of those kind words here, as well as listen to the featured song “Catamaran.”

Everyday Joe’s is proud of you, Candy Claws. Proud like when your child gets stitches for the first time and doesn’t shed a tear.

You can file this one under “almost in the stalker realm” if you like, but the people of Everyday Joe’s are excited.

Most days of this past summer, Welcome by James Pants was played over the Everyday Joe’s house system. Miniature dance parties broke out near the bar. Not because the people dancing were miniature, or because they were doing miniature moves, but because it was usually 3 people max. Perhaps miniature is not a necessary qualifier. Perhaps a dance party is a dance party.

This just in…a dance party is a dance party.

Get a taste for some of those dance inducing tunes:

We follow James Pants (@stjamespants) and his tweets, and we like it. I especially liked this one last week:

I am now officially a resident of the Colorado springs/Denver area. Now what do I do?

Well, kind sir, we have an answer for that: drive 2 hours north and play Everyday Joe’s. There will be dance partying. There will be espresso. There will be nice times.

Support Mr. Pants. Buy Welcome, and buy his new album Seven Seals out December 8th on Stones Throw.

Stones Throw is a mighty, mighty fine record label. At any time, beats from several Stones Throw artists may start to emanate from the speakers of Everyday Joe’s…including the beats of one Oh No.

Some time ago I was reading an article about Intelligentsia’s Venice Beach opening party DJ’d by Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf. The article included a mention of a Stones Throw Blend by Intelligentsia. I managed to get ahold of some and it was delicious, especially with James Pants coming through my headphones.

On Stones Throw’s Twitter recently, I was delighted and intrigued by this:

Here’s how we do it … Oh No’s Ethiopium (beats) http://is.gd/3eIkx & Stones Throw’s Ethiopium (coffee) http://is.gd/3eIlU

Stone’s Throw will be embarking on a hip-hop first: a dual album and coffee release. The album is Ethiopium by Oh No- the upcoming release inspired-by and sampled-from rare 60s and 70s Ethiopian funk, jazz, folk, soul and psychedelic rock. The coffee is Ethiopium by Intelligentsia- a Yirgacheffe that will surely be tasty. Time for hip-hoppers to buy a Chemex to compliment their vinyl collection. Hipsters have PBR, beat-makers now have Intelligentsia.

Everyday Joe’s foray into the Twitterverse began about two months ago. I wouldn’t say we’re obsessed, but we do recognize that it is a nice time.

I’d like to introduce Twitteresting. A new series of posts involving Tweets from the Twitter (or the Tweeter if you like to talk sassy) that seem particularly interesting. You have to glean blog fodder from somewhere, and Twitter is one of those places.

A couple days ago, I saw this from @TimStyles:

“www.EspressoPants.com: The Genesis of the 4th Wave. You heard it here first, folks.”

A quick explanation of waves is now in order.

Wave 1 = Consumption…basically, coffee is coffee (as our D$ so put it on the first EJ’s blog).

Wave 2 = Enjoyment. You discover new and different aspects & drinks: espresso, lattes, possibly even different ways to brew what you consumed during wave 1.

Wave 3 = Appreciation. Ft. Collins (at least part of it) as been riding the 3rd Wave of beer for some time. You want to know things about the coffees: harvesting, roasting, elevations, tasting notes, what brewing methods bring out what characteristics. This 3rd Wave is something Everyday Joe’s strives for and strives for our customers to enjoy…because knowing where your coffee has come from is as important as how it tastes.

Now…back to Espresso Pants.

“The 4th wave is finally here…” the site tells us in all its Times New Roman glory. I am intrigued, are you? What is this 4th wave and how does it involve pants? What types of pants? Short? Long? Slacks? Trousers?

What is beyond appreciating what you are appreciating? Wearing it, one would assume. Or bathing in it. Or just cloaking your lower half in it, as the 4th Wave that is Espresso Pants might end up suggesting one day.

Be on the look out, I guess. You heard it here second. Espresso Pants. Brace yourself. If we receive any further infos or an explanatory 5 paragraph essay concerning this find, we will pass it directly on to you.

FURTHER:
