Lightning & Moustache: The Everyday Joe’s Travel Mug

There has been talk for years and years and years ’round here about an Everyday Joe’s travel mugs. Several attempts have been made, all have failed…until now.

We were walking through the tradeshow floor at the SCAA show in April. It was towards the end of our time among the booths. Attention spans had dwindled. Feet hurt. Then we saw something that stopped us dead in our tracks. Then we learned we could add things to it. Then we learned it was affordable. Then these arrived at 144 S. Mason last week:

Those are not two travel mugs, but one: moustache on one side. The Everyday Joe’s lightning bolt logo on the other. Why lightning bolts? This used to be an electrical supply shop. Also, it reminds us of NPR and we like NPR.

More things about these travel mugs:

  • They are double-walled ceramic. Why is this spectacular? The ceramic doesn’t affect the taste of the beverage inside like a stainless steel or plastic mug might. It also means that if you don’t have to go anywhere, you can sit and sip out of a mug.
  • The lids are silicone. Easy to get on and off. Easy to drink out of.
  • The mug and lid are dishwasher safe! Easy to maintain = bonus

By now you most likely want one. There are benefits to having one of these beauties. How about  another list:

  • They are available now for $13
  • You get a free drink with the purchase! Every mug comes with a nice card tucked inside that entitles you to a free drink. You can use it whenever you want.
  • 10 cents off your drink purchase from here on out! Any time you come in and use your Everyday Joe’s travel mug, you’ll get 10 cents off your drink. Epic.

Come and get ‘em. If you live in other locales and want to get your hands on one, just let us know in the comments and we’ll make it happen.

Food CoOp Film Series: King Corn

We desperately love the Fort Collins Food CoOp and all those involved with it. With this desperate love in mind, we are honored to host the coop’s film series each month. This month: King Corn (every time I write “corn” with a “k”…like the band I was never into but sometimes raged to).

Watch the trailer before and then watch the whole thing on May 20 at 7 pm at Everyday Joe’s for free.

Benefit Beverage: The Sola Agave Latte

Would you like to see the beginnings of something? Here you go:

05-17-10_1316

Over the past year, we have been forcing ourselves to think more creatively about the idea of being non-profit. One manifestation of forced creativity are our Coffee & Goodness events. They are great and we have one in development we will announce very soon.

Another manifestation that we are very excited about are Benefit Beverages. The Dickens Chocolatte was the first of these – with all profits going to CoCOA: The Colorado Coalition Of Artists.

The time has now come for a second beverage which is near and dear to our hearts…and delicious.

A couple months ago – as part of our Other People’s Coffee series – we profiled Sola Coffee Bar in Scottsdale, AZ. It is non-profit. It is volunteer powered. It is a place of relationship. It is run by people we sat and talked with when it was just a hope in their hearts. It is in the desert.

You know what else is in the desert? Agave.

The picture of beginnings up there is the beginnings of the Sola Agave Latte – our next Benefit Beverage. Just a bit of agave nectar goes a long way. We find that when it is factored into a latte, it is astoundingly tasty. And when all the profits from the drink go to Sola Coffee Bar, it tastes even better.

We now encourage you to come in and enjoy. The Sola Agave Latte will be available for a limited time. Try it hot. Try it iced. Try it for your mother.

Twitteresting: Sleeping At Last roundup

Oh, Saturday night was some magic sauce.

Whenever our friends in Sleeping At Last fill the space with their sounds, the room changes a bit. The bricks seem to move to the beat. The people in the chairs sit in complete attentiveness…as though something is moving inside of them besides the beauty of the music and if they move or talk they might miss something. Much swirling of many things occurs…and perhaps the beginnings or continuings of the healing of hearts.

The Everyday Joe’s sliver of the Twitterverse was abuzz with speakings of this and pictures trying to capture it. To follow it in real-time was special. To deliver it to you now seems necessary.
